PET is one of the most eco-friendly plastic, which is a more sustainable choice of material than other plastic materials. PET is FDA approved for food contact and is re-polymerized down to the base polymer. It gives only CO2 and H2O when PET id burnt and there are no harmful gases released. It is very easy to recycle and there are several value-added products made from R-PET (Recycled PET). This includes polyester fabrics, injection moulded items and strapping, just to a name of few.
